Tiësto (real name Tijs Michiel Verwest, born January 17, 1969) is a Dutch DJ, record producer, and one of the most influential figures in electronic dance music history. He was born in Breda and started DJing in his teenage years before becoming a global electronic music icon.
He became internationally famous during the trance era of the late 1990s and early 2000s and later successfully evolved into progressive house, EDM, and crossover dance music. Tiësto is often credited as one of the artists who helped electronic music reach mainstream global audiences.
His catalog includes major hits such as Adagio for Strings, Red Lights, The Business, Jackie Chan, and 10:35. His 2023 album Drive continued his global chart success.
