Ricky Martin (born Enrique Martín Morales, December 24, 1971) is a Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, actor, and global pop icon. He was born in San Juan and began his career as a member of the boy band Menudo in the 1980s.
He launched a successful solo career in the 1990s and became an international superstar with hits like Livin’ la Vida Loca, She Bangs, and Maria. His performance at the 1999 Grammy Awards is widely credited with helping bring Latin pop into the global mainstream.
Ricky Martin is considered one of the most influential Latin artists of all time, selling over 70 million records worldwide. He is also known for his humanitarian work through the Ricky Martin Foundation.
